Terms of business
These terms are between your business and Meridex Group Limited. They apply when you sign a Letter of Authority or ask us to act for you.
1. What we do
We look after the business services your business runs on: gas and electricity, water, phone lines, broadband and mobiles, waste and recycling, solar and EV charging. We gather information from your suppliers, compare what is available to us, recommend, and look after the paperwork, switches and follow-up. We compare the suppliers available to us. That is not the whole market, and we tell you how many we compared. We provide business services. We are not tax or legal advisers.
2. What we never do
We cannot agree a contract for you. A contract only exists when you agree it with the supplier or provider, in writing or on a recorded call.
3. Your Letter of Authority
Your Letter of Authority lets us gather information from your suppliers and negotiate on your behalf. It lasts 12 months from signing. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing compliance@meridexgroup.co.uk. We only send a Letter of Authority ourselves, after we have spoken to you.
4. How we are paid
There is no fee to pay us.
- Gas, electricity and water: the supplier you choose pays us a commission, included in your unit rate and/or standing charge. Before you agree anything, we show you the full amount, per unit and in pounds over the contract. It is on every quote.
- Phone lines, broadband, mobiles and waste: the provider you choose pays us.
- Solar and EV charging: the price we quote for the installation is the price you pay. There is nothing extra on top.
5. Installations
Solar and EV charging installations are carried out by our installation partners. We tell you who they are before you agree anything, and the price in your quote is the price you pay. Your installation contract is with the installation partner, who is responsible for the work, its warranty and putting right any faults. We support you from start to finish. We help you decide what is right for your site, arrange the survey, keep the installation on track, and stay your point of contact throughout. If anything goes wrong, tell us and we will work with the installation partner until it is put right.
6. What we ask of you
- Give us accurate information about your business, sites and current contracts.
- Make sure the person signing has the authority to do so.
- Read the supplier's or provider's terms before you agree. The supply contract is between you and them.
7. Calls and records
We record all calls, for training, quality, compliance, and as a record of what was agreed. We use and keep your data as set out in our Privacy policy.
8. Our responsibility to you
We act with reasonable skill and care, in your interest. We are not responsible for what suppliers, providers or installation partners do, but we will help put things right. If we make a mistake that causes you a direct financial loss, you must tell us within 3 months of spotting it, through our Complaints procedure. The most we will pay is the lower of what you would have saved but for our mistake, or the commission we earned on the contract concerned. We are not responsible for indirect losses, lost profit or savings, lost data, lost business or opportunity, or damage to reputation. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for fraud, for death or injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
9. Ending our agreement
Either of us can end this agreement by writing to the other. Your Letter of Authority ends 12 months after you sign it, unless you withdraw it sooner. Ending our agreement does not end any contract you have with a supplier or provider.
10. Complaints
If something goes wrong, tell us first. Our Complaints procedure explains how we will put it right. For energy services, we are a member of the Energy Ombudsman, ADR no. C35MERI01.
